Summary
Support Media Source Extensions on iOS

It has come to my attention that Media Source Extensions works on Safari desktop and I believe in iPadOS 13, but I do not believe there is any current support for iOS. I would like to know if there will be support soon, and if not I request that support. Media Source Extensions is something I need in my app to get audio to play appropriately, and iOS is one of the main platforms that I need to support. Thanks! Potentially related bugs:

Importing to track this request. We do support MSE on macOS and iPadOS, but are currently not able to offer on iPhone. This kind of feedback is helpful to us making the case to relevant teams at Apple.

Voicing my support for this as well. Is there any progress/news on this feature?

We would also be very keen to see Apple support MSE on iOS. We develop a product used by broadcasters worldwide, which uses OPUS as a transport format. As Safari has no support for OPUS, we use MSE to decode (and play) this media asynchronously, which works great on macOS and iPadOS. Consequently, short of us developing a native iOS app or pre-transcoding (a potentially very long bit of) audio on device, we have no way of supporting audio for iPhone users.
