We should add the "type" attribute to the network info api as per W3 spec. W3 Spec: http://www.w3.org/TR/netinfo-api/

Why are you saying that we should do this? I don't remember all the details but my recollection is that this was discussed and rejected as nonsensical. Just like you wouldn't want to support an API that reports how many bauds are in your modem, the concepts behind network type are similarly unlikely to stand the test of time.

Alexey - agreed. type is redundant and it looks like we are following the mozilla's newer spec. Closing this.
