This is currently expected since the move to WebKit2 in Safari disabled the mechanism that the nightly launcher used to communicate the build number to the nightly start page.

As the bug I submitted is a duplicate, let me just say that I spent a good twenty minutes _searching_ for a bug like this, without joy. I suspect the search function is severely disabled. So, if this is expected behavior, then why not just change the bloody start page?
