Summary Clipped "Flash content" blocks page totally
Justin Haygood
Reported 2006-05-09 09:24:57 PDT
Overview: In Safari 2.0.3 (WebKit 418) and in the latest nightly, when Flash (Flash 8) content is clipped to a certain size, the content below where it shouldn't be seen is still obscured by the Flash player. The latest nightlies can click through content, but not obviously, and the context menu reveals "Flash Player 8" Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to to the testpage: http://www.mooncolonynews.com/eyewonder/bugs/pages/safari/clip001/Stoat.htm 2. Close the expandable tornado ad 3. Right click on the content below the expandable tornado ad's expandable portion 4. Notice the Flash Player 8 5. Try to click on one of the links that was obscured 6. Notice it works (but doesn't show that you're over the link) in latest nightlies, and doesn't in the previous release. Expected: Flash Content should be really clipped, including the plugin's window portion. Works as Expected in: Firefox 1.5 / Windows XP / Flash 8 Firefox 1.5 / MacOS X 10.4.6 / Flash 8 Internet Explorer 6 / Windows XP / Flash 8

Confirmed problem in the latest Webkit on Leopard. Webkit on Windows works as expected. So the bug is PlatformOnly.

Mass closing plug-in bugs, as plug-in support has been removed from WebKit. Please comment and/or reopen if this still affects WebKit in some way.
