Test of <col> width bug If style="width:##px;" is specified on a <col> or <colgroup>, the width is inherited by the individual children columns. If width is changed to min-width, min-width is not inherited. Attached is a test file. Results vary between Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Opera.

This is the best I could find:
http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/tables.html#columns
"The 'width' property gives the minimum width for the column." The behaviour of min-width with respect to col or colgroup is not defined in at least CSS2.
