Description Marco Peereboom 2011-03-08 05:18:46 PST
Bug #55830 got closed without being resolved. The diagnosis is correct however it doesn't get the webkitgtk snapshot tarball fixed.

The WebKitGTK+ 1.2.7 tarball downloaded from http://webkitgtk.org/?page=download has a mismerged patch.

Attached is a patch to correct that.

The tarball is on webkitgtk.org, and the page says that the code comes from gitorious.org - none of these is ours. We don't even have a tag for this release at <http://trac.webkit.org/browser/releases/WebKitGTK>.

Closing as INVALID, because this bug doesn't exist in webkit.org sources, and thus it cannot be tracked in webkit.org Bugzilla.

I've CC'ed some people who may know what to do about this, or you could try following contact links at <http://webkitgtk.org/?page=contact>.

I understand that you've just followed a link from <http://webkitgtk.org/?page=contribute> which points to webkit.org Bugzilla. It seems wrong for it to do so - for example, Apple and Google use their own bug trackers for their custom distributions that don't come from webkit.org directly.

Thanks for the comment ap.

The webpage links to the webkit.org to report bugs about the development, best option to solve this kind of issues in the release is the mailing list (http://lists.webkit.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/webkit-gtk) or the irc channel (#webkit-gtk at freenode).

Anyway, that tarball is generated from a git repository which is a copy of the svn repository, it is used to create the stable release of webkitgtk, the error is weird, kov is that one generating the tarballs. I'm adding him so he can check the error and create a new one if required.

I hope this information helps.
