Extension API should provide a way to open resource in external editor. Users are already trying to tweak inspector's code to achieve this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4512495/webkit-inspector-open-resource-in-textmate

Closing as invalid, as this bug pertains to the old inspector UI and/or its tests. Please file a new bug (https://www.webkit.org/new-inspector-bug) if the bug/feature/issue is still relevant to WebKit trunk.
