Created attachment 73269 [details] Screen shot of failed application launch downloaded nightly build for windows, extracted zip file, and tried launching webkit but got error: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. I tried with and without Safari 5.0.2 running.
The r71499 nightly works fine for me with Safari 5.0.2 installed on Windows XP. Tom, can you please do the following? 1) Download ProcDump from <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspx> and extract it somewhere 2) Launch the nightly 3) While the error dialog is showing, run the following command: procdump Safari 4) Upload the .dmp file it generates to this bug The .dmp file will help us figure out what's going wrong here.
I tried to get you a dump but procdump doesn't think it is still running. I tried Safari, WebKit, WebKit.exe, etc. I went to the System Information, Software Environment, Running Processes and didn't see it in the list even though the error message is still showing. The application must not be running at this point.
Also, Windows XP is running under VMWare on OS X Snow Leopard. I will try this on a standalone machine running Windows XP.
r71499 works fine on a standalone machine running Windows XP service pack 3. I will go back and look at the VMWare Fusion (2.07) instance of Windows XP and see what service pack is installed.
The VMWare Fusion 2.0.7 version of Windows XP is service pack 3 as well. I'll assume there is just something wrong with this installation and so you can close this bug since it works on a native system for me.
Seems worth keeping this bug open to cover the VMWare-specific issue. We'd like Safari to work in that configuration!
Ok, r71499 works now for me under VMWare Fusion. The problem was that I never updated Safari from 4.0.3 to 5.0.2. I thought I was running the latest Safari but I was not. Once I updated Safari to 5.0.2, the webkit nightly worked fine. Sorry for the distraction.
Thanks for doing all the investigation, Tom!
