Created attachment 72094 [details] Assets to duplicate the problem If the repeat mode is 'no-repeat' for SVG content brought in as a mask, then the unpainted background of the SVG artwork is treated as opaque white. If the repeat mode is 'repeat' for SVG content brought in as a mask, then the unpainted background of the SVG artwork is treated as transparent. This is inconsistent and problematic. The background should always be treated as transparent. Not doing so forces the creation of masks that are as bigger in order to be able to use 'repeat' but this will likely require larger framebuffers and longer execution time. This may be related to bug 48471.

Please disregard. New to webkit and was using latest Chrome to log bugs. This is problematic in Chrome but works in nightly build 70599 as well as Safari 5.0.2. Guess Chrome hasn't updated their webkit in longer than Safari.
