most likely this may be a radar issue, however it may be that webkit SVG developers could encourage adoption? " the primary means of interacting with web content in Safari on iPad is through touch. The software keyboard appears in Safari on iPad and iPhone when a form control that requires text input — such as <input type="text"> or <textarea> — gains focus. Users should not be forced to rely on a keyboard to navigate your webpage." http://developer.apple.com/safari/library/technotes/tn2010/tn2262/index.html the url given is transient, however it contains a focusable text area, that uses script to edit the DOM as the user enters keystrokes, imitating an html form.

Issues specific to iOS are only tracked by Apple internally, we don't track them in Bugzilla. Thanks for also filing this via bgreport.apple.com!
