According to CSS 2.1 section 10.6.2, replaced elements with a percentage height should have a computed height of 'auto' if the containing block does not have an explicit height. For example, an image element like this should be shown as a square: <p> <img src="resources/square-blue-100x100.png" width="100" height="50%"> </p> Other browsers (IE8, Firefox, Opera) get this right, provided they are in strict mode.
