Description Colin 2010-03-13 14:29:17 PST
I have found that the latest Webkit nightly builds fail to load the homepage flash when logging into my TurboTax account. The Safari 4.0.5 build handles everything fine, but with Webkit I only get a blank area where flash should load. Please note, this is a problem when logging into an account, not on the public homepage.

What version of Flash do you have? Do you know with which exactly nightly build this started? Does Flash work on other sites?

I don't have a TurboTax account, so I can't easily try this myself.

It happened at least two releases back (sorry, I cannot remember what build that was), but it could have been an issue in prior builds. I am running Flash 10.1 d51, but as I said it loads fine in Safari 4.0.5. And yes, Flash is working just fine with other sites, so I'm not sure if it's a bad flash design on Intuit's part or some bug with Webkit nightly or both. So far this is the only site I have had an issue with concerning Flash.

I can show screenshots if that would help.

It unlikely that screenshots would help. One thing that would help is finding out which nightly build this started with, but perhaps someone else at Apple will have an account, and then we would be able to check ourselves.

Another question - are there any errors in Web Inspector console that are not reported in shipping Safari/WebKit, but are in nightlies?

No, the Web Inspector shows no errors in either instance.

Could you email me the snippet of the HTML around the Flash object?

If there's a page that has Flash that isn't personal, a web archive of that page would also be helpful (via email, please).

Ok, the Flash is now loading as of 57284 (perhaps earlier, as I had not tested builds between my last post and this release. However, when scrolling, the flash moves unnaturally with the page as I scroll up and down rather than remaining stationary (as it should and does in the Safari 4.0.5 and other browsers).

Flash is dead and gone now.

While 'https://turbotax.intuit.com/' loads and work fine. As for logged-in, it might be something working as well since Flash is gone.

Marking this as 'RESOLVED WONTFIX'.
