Confirmed, i'll try and see if i can make a testcase for this one later on.
Done some more research, i am NOT able to make a testcase for this and am not even sure whether it's a google feature to hide rich text editing when using safari or a safari bug to not render the text...
Safari does not support this style of rich text editing. That is the bug in and of itself.

Secondly, with the advent of AJAX sites with unprecidented functionality, I would think that it would be a fairly high priority to make sure that Safari can handle rich text editing. I think I do more e-mail via webmail (with GMail and Microsoft's upcoming Hotmail rewrite) than I do from a traditional e-mail program.
So we have other bugs to handle rich text editing. I think this should be duped against one of those.
