Done some more research, i am NOT able to make a testcase for this and am not even sure whether it's a google feature to hide rich text editing when using safari or a safari bug to not render the text...

Safari does not support this style of rich text editing. That is the bug in and of itself.

Two quick comments... First, I can verify the problem as originally posted. Secondly, with the advent of AJAX sites with unprecidented functionality, I would think that it would be a fairly high priority to make sure that Safari can handle rich text editing. I think I do more e-mail via webmail (with GMail and Microsoft's upcoming Hotmail rewrite) than I do from a traditional e-mail program.

So we have other bugs to handle rich text editing. I think this should be duped against one of those.
