Description Jurek R. 2010-01-07 23:50:00 PST
This page

http://www.cesweb.org/awards/innovations/2010honorees.asp

is rendering very slow on Safari. So slow that scrolling stutters a lot even on fast systems.
Maybe there is the need for optimization...

It renders much faster on Mozilla.

And here is much worse example of possibly the same problem:

https://build.opensuse.org/project/list_public

Epiphany, WebKit GTK 531.2+ x86_64, Linux openSUSE 11.3, AMD 64 3000+

Page redraw or scroll step takes ~10 seconds.

Link in the comment #1 now links much (maybe 100 times) faster.

Link from the comment #0 still scrolls a bit slower than expected, at least on Epiphany 2.30.6 (GTK).

I can see some stuttering when scrolling in Safari 5.0.3 on Mac OS X 10.6.6, however the performance is much better than in Firefox.

Safari Technology Preview 191 seems to load fine - https://web.archive.org/web/20100625235751/https://build.opensuse.org/project/list_public & https://web.archive.org/web/20100209010646/http://www.cesweb.org/awards/innovations/2010honorees.asp and no stuttering.

Additionally browser optimizations and hardware has not evolved a lot and if there would be any such issues, we would have never bug reports to fix.

Going to mark this as 'RESOLVED WONTFIX' (since stuttering was confirmed but not performance issue.
