Use a Google login to access http://www.google.com/enterprise/marketplace/createVendorProfile. In the "Company overview" box, paste in some text. The textarea has a 500 character limit, and there is text below indicating how many characters are left. With IE 8, Firefox 3, and Opera 10, when you paste into that text area, the character limit text is updated correctly. With Chrome 4 on Windows and Linux, the character limit text is not updated until you type something into the box. Same for Safari 4 on Windows.

Confirmed with r48447. Maybe we're not dispatching some events the site depends upon.

I don't see notifyFormStateChanged() getting called from HTMLTextAreaElement::updateValue() when we call Editor::pasteAsPlainTextWithPasteboard(). Or when we press backspace for that matter. Hopefully someone more familiar with Webkit can connect the dots.

This is fixed on Chrome 6 with WebKit 534.6 for me.

Works in Safari 5.0.1, too. Could be a fix in WebKit, or on the site.
