Reported 2024-04-26 15:22:52 PDT
Created attachment 471171 [details] Screen recording with web inspector I can reproduce this issue with Safari 17.4.1 and Safari Technology Preview 193 on macOS Sonoma and Ventura and iPadOS 17.4.1. I haven't tested any other Safari configurations. I can't be certain that this is a WebKit bug rather than a Mozilla bug, but it only happens in Safari, not in Chrome or Firefox. Steps to reproduce: 1) Open https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/figure 2) Scroll down the page Attached are screen recordings demonstrating the issue. In one screen recording, the web inspector is open to the Network tab, and you can see the runner.html iframe getting reloaded repeatedly. Also, this is causing high CPU usage in the Safari Web Content process, around 50%.

I've seen this issue occur before on other developer.mozilla.org web pages (I don't remember which ones). I finally decided to investigate today.
