Since the installation of Safari 4.0.1 the Mail.app 2.1.3 is not able to send mails to my provider anymore. I'm still able to send e-mails to an old GMX free-mail-account. The mailboxes which do not work on Mail.app 2.1.3 (OS X 10.4.11) do work with Mail.app 3.6 on Mac OS X 10.5.7 Today I was hoping that installing Safari 4.0.2 might help but Mail.app does still not send mails. My provider gives me the same address for pop as for smtp. POP: mail.domain.com SMTP: mail.domain.com Related Treats: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2066436&tstart=0 http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=102153
You should file bug reports about behavioral regressions that you suspect may be caused by Safari 4 at <http://bugreport.apple.com/>. There's no evidence in any of the links you have provided that WebKit is at fault.
I was put on WebKit in another treat, which I can not find right now. Sounded logical to me, as Mail.app is using WebKit and Safari 4.0.1 installed a newer version of WebKit on my system, that this might have to do with my problems. As soon I'll find this treat again, I will put the link up here.
@MarkRowe Thanks, you are right, WebKit is not the one to blame. I changed back to Safari 3.2.3 with and WebKit 4525 with help of this HowTo: 4http://not-noticeably.net/entry/reverting-to-safari-3-from-safari-4-on-mac-os-x-105 but Mail.app 2.1.3 still is not working properly. What ever came along with Safari 4 Final, it broke my mail.
