I thought there is no need to use shrink-to-fit=no anymore: https://www.scottohara.me/blog/2018/12/11/shrink-to-fit.html But I found that the behavior which led to webkit implementing this viewport meta tag, is back: https://github.com/h5bp/html5-boilerplate/issues/2102#issuecomment-2022863104 These are screenshots of Scotts Tests taken on an iPad (10. Generation, simulator) running iOS 17.2: https://www.scottohara.me/testing/shrink.html https://private-user-images.githubusercontent.com/2182288/317296870-17950984-a76d-4442-9538-611ab88be62a.png?jwt=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.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.GwVnzKFfbVAimI16bZzr3uFcUHEHt72NpIVBEE48W6I https://www.scottohara.me/testing/shrink-no.html https://private-user-images.githubusercontent.com/2182288/317296917-34fcd780-de7d-4d64-8b2e-38c3096b6a87.png?jwt=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.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.dTyI-FMDCWIuqs-Ti_o9Grtw79sJ-vOwUvsg-2W5aIk As you can see, the screenshots look quite differently although they shouldnt. From GitHub Linked, it seems that it is happening in iPad only and from iOS 17.2 onward and something in relation to :has / media query combination. https://github.com/h5bp/html5-boilerplate/issues/2102#issuecomment-2022934350 For reference images look into following comment: https://github.com/h5bp/html5-boilerplate/issues/2102#issuecomment-2022863104
