A sample clip of when I clicked Safari, putting it into focus While using macOS Big Sur 11.7.4 (I think) through 11.7.6, along with the Orion browser, built-in Safari, and Safari 16.5 seed 2, the contents of the page don't appear unless window is out of focus, while the latest available Safari technology preview for Big Sur, as of April 12th, doesn't seem to have the same problem; also to note is the fact that a few people in the Orion browser Discord on macOS Ventura 13.3.1 have the same issue, at least with YouTube and other content providers.

Thank you for the report! Could you please also let us know what hardware model this is on? Also, does this reproduce on a freshly created user account? We cannot reproduce this so far, so wondering if there are any non-default settings that trigger the problem.

Um, my machine uses software rendering, but the other people with the same issue have hardware acceleration, afaik.

It is reproducible on both a new account and a guest account, but not on most hardware; I've only seen one or two other cases of this same problem, as mentioned in the bug description.

Update: There is a user on macOS Catalina with the same issue, also in the Orion browser group, using the Orion browser.

Their hardware is 2011 13” MacBook Pro with an SSD and 10GB RAM

Thank you. As you probably expected, the answer is that this machine does not support macOS Catalina, so the OS must have been modified to run on unsupported hardware. We might accept a PR to work around the problem (if it's safe and non-invasive, no promises), but cannot dedicate time to finding a solution.

It is interesting that this symptom occurs in a wide range of unsupported cases, which might indicate that there is a true underlying bug in WebKit, but again, I don't see us investigating it, sorry.
