A bit like bug #251336, but for financial institutions. Here is a list of some bank websites I found, that take very noticeably longer to load in Epiphany 43.x (many seconds) than in any recent version of Firefox (typically less than a second): * https://www.boj.or.jp * https://www.rbcroyalbank.com * https://www.bankofsingapore.com * https://www.citibank.com/citi/ * https://www.mediobanca.com * https://www.tangerine.ca * https://www.eqbank.ca * https://www.oaken.com * https://www.bmo.com * https://www.credit-agricole.fr Maybe those (and news sites) could be part of some sort of standard benchmarks test suite?
Loading time seems to be on par with Firefox in Gnome Web 44.2
Here this still happens with 44.2. Epiphany takes roughly 5-10 seconds to fully load those websites, that Firefox loads in 4 seconds or less. Firefox is typically 2-3x faster there than Epiphany to load those sites on my desktop computer, even with uBlock Origin disabled, in a private window and fresh launch (with no on-disk cache). For example, without uBlock Origin activated in Firefox - Oaken took 4 seconds in Firefox; 7 seconds in Epiphany - crédit agricole took 3-4 seconds in Firefox; 8.5 secs in Epiphany - Bank of Singapore took 3.5 seconds in Firefox, 5-6 seconds in Epiphany When using uBlock Origin, Firefox tends to load them in less than 3 seconds each, sometimes less than 1 or 2 seconds it seems.
