5 columns of video thumbnails abruptly switches to 4

The YouTube home screen displays 5 columns of video thumbnails on its home screen on load, then switches to 4 columns abruptly after scrolling down the page.

This issue is produced with:
Gnome Web Technology Preview (42.alpha-40-g63481fa8a+, WebKitGTK 2.35.3)
and all versions prior.
Width of window: 1080 pixels

This issue is not reproducible in Safari on iOS/ iPadOS/ macOS.
