This is an issue I'm seeing for years I feel and now I that I have a consistent repro and is also in my local build in addition to stable Safari versions thought maybe should file it as a bug this time,

Steps to reproduce:
Open
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fool%27s_mate
(or its permanent link on https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fool%27s_mate&oldid=1003460154 )

Actual:
As the attachment some of the checkerboards images aren't rendered but will so if I right click and "Open Image in New Tab"

Expected:
Just like other browsers

I see very minor chance if this isn't noticed already yet thought should file a bug if isn't.

Can you still reproduce this today? If you can, is it still reproducible in macOS 11.2 beta, and/or iOS 14.5 beta?

I cannot reproduce this issue, but it's been reported to Apple before, and I reproduced it at the time. This happens because Wikipedia serves these PNG images with image/webp MIME type. Other browser engines appear to be more lenient.

It's possible that Wikipedia corrected the content type, or that something else changed in terms of image types served by it to a newer version of Safari.

I see it today but I don't use beta versions of macOS, as I see those webp MIMEs from Wikipedia side feel free to close this. Thanks
