Reported 2008-10-15 11:53:42 PDT
Hello I have following problem with the latest nightly webkit-svn-r37605: 1. Start watching a youtube-video. (cpu=45%) 2. Minimize it to the dock. (cpu=25%) 3. Maximize it out of the dock. (CPU=still 25%) --> The result is that the youtube-video is now in SLOW-MOTION after maximizing the window from the dock. best regards Mehmet

Both browsers experience high CPU rates while doing the actions you are describing: Opera 24% and Firefox 40%. Why would you think this is a WebKit issue? Regards, Mihnea

Hello Mihnea, thank you for the answering ;-) I think it is a webkit-nightly issue, because only in the latest NIGHTLY Builds of webkit, this Problem is existing. I do not mean the high cpu-usage. I mean, that when you open the flash YouTube-Video (or another flash-Video Content), and minimize this window with the playing flash Video content into the dock, and after that bringing it again out of the dock, the result is, that the flash-video plays in SLOW-Motion (only the Video, not the sound). What I mean with the cpu-usage is, that after bringing the window out of the dock, the cpu-usage still stays down by 25% and do rize up again to the normal value of 45%. Perhaps this is the reason for the problem with the in in slow-motion playing flash-video content?!??!! I hope, I could explain the problem, because my english is very bad ;-) Regards Mehmet In Safari 3.1.2 or Camino or firefox this problem is not existing. That means, minimizing and after maximizing out of the dock the video plays normal and NOT in slow motion.

That means, > minimizing and after maximizing out of the dock the video plays normal and NOT > in slow motion. > Hello, I tried to reproduce the problem also on a MacBook without much success. Even if the CPU goes high while playing the video, I did not have the impression that the video is slow motion. I downloaded the flv file you mentioned in the bug to my MacBook Pro and played it locally with Adobe Media Player, but still I was not able to see slow motion in playing the video. 1. Are you able to reproduce the problem every time or it happens from time to time? 2. Do you experience the problem only after maximizing the browser window? 3. Do you experience the same problem with other movie clips too? 4. Are you able to reproduce the problem with Flash Player 9? 5. What is the first WebKit nightly version that does not experience your issue? Regards, Mihnea

Hello Mihnea, To your questions: (1) It happens every time in latest nightlies... (2) Yes, always after maximizing out of the dock. (3) Yes, in other websites with Flashmovie-content it happens too. (4) Yes it also happens with flash 9. (5) Today I downloades a lot of webkit-builds and testet them. Only in the builds r32530 and r32698 I downloaded, this problem is NOT existing.... Please follow this link: I created a pdf-dokument with 4 pictures, which is documentating the problem with the latest Builds. Hope, it will be clear for you. http://www.file-upload.net/download-1213832/webkit_flash_problem.pdf.html (Sorry, but I couldn't upload png-files to the bugzill-server, because there was alwas a error-message while uploading.)
