Summary Some Greek unicode accented text displays incorrectly
webkit
Reported 2008-10-10 18:06:46 PDT
When configured for Unicode data entry (via http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/cgi-bin/dispconf?url=resolveform%3Flang%3Dgreek then set "Greek Display" to "Unicode (UTF-8)", unicode Greek text is not displayed correctly (other browsers do display this correctly). A sample of the output can be seen here: http://www.shields-online.net/webkit_unicode.html There are many small boxes within the Greek unicode text which do not show up in Camino or other browsers on the same system.

Can you please list the steps to reproduce the bug? I am not sure how to see what is wrong.

I've added an image of the difference I see in Webkit/Safari against Camino from the sample page (http://www.shields-online.net/webkit_unicode.html). I'm not aware that there are any additional steps needed to cause the problem to display, although it could be font related (except that Camino works where Webkit doesn't on the same system with the same fonts installed).

I cannot reproduce this on Mac OS X 10.5.5 with shipping Safari/WebKit.

I've just done a clean install of 10.5.5 and tried Safari and the problem persists, so too with the latest nightly. Can you attach a screenshot of the test page http://www.shields-online.net/webkit_unicode.html so I can compare fonts and details?

Thanks: checking the attachment I note the difference in fonts and changed the default font settings which resolved the issue.
