Created attachment 398616 [details] Screenshot of Colour Contrast Analyser testing the repro URL's placeholder demo showing the bad contrast. Safari placeholder attribute text has insufficient contrast ratio for WCAG conformance and general usability. Chrome has a sufficient contrast ratio for its input placeholder text. Chrome's ratio is 4.6:1 for the placeholder. Safari's placeholder text ratio is 2.4:1 which is failing WCAG 2.0 Level AA 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) Success Criterion. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Safari. 2. Visit https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_textarea_placeholder Expected Results: Placeholder text has a contrast ratio that is sufficient for WCAG at at least 4.5:1 or greater and placeholder text is easy to read. Actual Results: Placeholder text has an insufficient contrast ratio at 2.4:1 which is failing WCAG and is difficult to read.
