Summary [Gtk] Sound is distorted on Dailymotion videos

On Dailymotion, sound is distorded for all videos. Even if the sound speed is OK, it is low-pitched as if it was played in a slow motion video. The problem appears on dailymotion.com, but also on embedded videos (for example on https://www.lequipe.fr/Tennis/Actualites/Wtf-l-odeur-qui-manque-a-la-joueuse-de-tennis-kristie-ahn/1129152). Reading only the video (without the JS player) works correctly on Epiphany (https://proxy-022.ix7.dailymotion.com/sec(NktLGdW_NTowTcekQRNIL6SuTq03r2HZp_B_m_mcrbafG1O-N5Y8rBKzn4TQGk8l2kqMgxfMXNVH4KrgizXBOaApwUs0l3GBQmhkzZRITvg)/video/286/007/472700682_mp4_h264_aac_hd.m3u8#cell=core&qos_vpart=1&qos_stail=1&ab_betamark=4). I’m have: - WebKitGTK 2.28.1 - Epiphany 3.36.0 - GStreamer 1.16.2 I’ve had the problem for a long time (probably more than 2 years).

Do you use PulseAudio? Audio playback works as expected in other apps such as the GNOME Videos thing?

(In reply to Philippe Normand from comment #1) > Do you use PulseAudio? I do. > Audio playback works as expected in other apps such as the GNOME Videos > thing? It works perfectly everywhere else. I have no problems with other GNOME software, and other videos (on YouTube for example) work well on Epiphany. As the Dailymotion video streams play well without the JS player, I suppose that the problem comes from Dailymotion’s JS.

The bug is fixed for me now. I don’t know if it’s because of a new version of WebKit, or because DailyMotion’s JS has changed.

My guess would have been the fixes to the GStreamer media backend; we have had a flurry of those in the last months… At any rate, thanks a lot for stopping by and closing the bug :-)
