RESOLVED WONTFIX 20767
Incorrect or bad handling of layer tags

Summary Incorrect or bad handling of layer tags
Preston Marshall
Reported 2008-09-10 09:16:24 PDT
I'm pretty sure the rendering error is due to some incorrect html in the page but I have seen this on numerous sites, so it might be something that Webkit needs to handle a little more gracefully. The problem is that on sites like http://www.api-digital.com/ and http://www.rti.com/, WebKit somehow doesn't understand or parse the layer tags as the web designer intended, so it looks like it just prints them out in the order that they were in the HTML. I have a feeling Dreamweaver is the culprit for these layers, and the missing doctype doesn't help either. BTW this is tested using WebKit nightly trunk build 36309. I might also add that I have tested these sites in Firefox and they handle this gracefully.

Hmm, these sites seem to look fine to me, using shipping Safari/WebKit, or nightly r36247. Are you only seeing this with nightlies, and not shipping Safari? Could you please attach a screenshot of incorrect rendering?

Layer tags are gone and removed. Plus it was never confirmed. "http://www.api-digital.com/" does not even load to me, while 'RTI' is working fine. I think it would be little worth keeping this 2008 bug open. So I am marking this as 'RESOLVED WONTFIX', please reopen if it is reproducible.
