We have a PWA that has a link to a google maps URL. When the PWA is installed on iOS and you click the link, iOS seems to open a new window that then opens the native google maps app. While that works, the PWA will be blank page if you go back to it. This seems to only happen when opening the external link (in this case the google maps link) via window.open().
