Description Kevin Andrews 2017-09-27 11:48:42 PDT
a problem ocurred with this webpage so it was reloaded: this is the error users are getting(including me specifically i’m a developer and I always cause this issue) when you select in most input boxs and copy safari crashes throwing this error and page reloads. just on april, i had to reset all my ipad (ios10) and i lost a lot of info(when resetting the ipad for some reason when resetting the software broken on the process and was unable to get out there tried all ways and had to do it using a computer in technical support) because of this issue hapenning constantly but now my ipad being literally unusuable after repeated reboots and all even native apple apps crashing, hopefully it doesn’t happen to me again and it stopped hapenning but the only thing that remains as of now is this but when in input boxs of a webpage safari crashes, just test it yourself on github, for example, on the wiki input boxs it happens when selecting anything on it and copying.

thanks

Could you please attach a crash log and detailed steps to reproduce?

Hello,

If it was me I would have reproduced the issue with a video, however, I wouldn’t like to do so due to possible future issues.

There are several ways to reproduce this issue, here’s a simplified one you can test yourself from an iPhone or iPad device – at least seems to be hapenning on iPad.

1. Go to http://demo.polr.me
2. Enter any URL you would like to shorten.
3. Push the shorten button.
4. You’ll be redirected to the shortening result page. Now, try to select and copy the input value and error ocurrs.

Not only on this site, this issue ocurrs, but is not limited to, GitHub Wiki pages and several input boxs on the web.

I'm unable to reproduce on an iPhone with iOS 11. I'll try with my iPad...

Is there a particular URL that triggers this crash?

I'm unable to reproduce on iPad either.

Crash logs would be extremely helpful for investigating!

Weird! I have no crash logs, but I will submit a video showing out how it ocurrs.
Comment 6 Kevin Andrews 2017-09-28 15:17:51 PDT
You’re right. It is not hapenning there, but I will try to find other ways such as GitHub’s wiki, etc..

this issue just got fixed after ios 11. Try it out on iOS 10 and it is reproducible. Thanks for fixing it!
