Summary QuickTime Plug-in will not load
Glenn Heilemann
Reported 2007-07-20 20:15:14 PDT
I was unable to load Quick Time plug-in. See error below. I used the latest version of WebKit as downloaded with “Night Shift” app. on the evening of 07/20/07. Safari 3.0.2 build 522.12. If you need more information on further feedback reports please advise. Since Quick Time is not a third party application I thought this report may assist in development. The page “Retro CD Cover Tutorial | NAPP Online” attempted to load an Internet plug-in named “QuickTime Plug-In 7.2”, but the plug-in failed to load successfully.

Thanks for the bug report, Glenn! What URL (web page) were you visiting? What version of QuickTime do you have installed? Were there any error messages written to the console?

All URL's requiring Quick Time seem to be affected. I was just at http://www.seminars.apple.com/seminarsonline/qt7/apple/index.html?s=203&locs =us_en and it failed to load. I am using QuickTime 7.2. I am not familiar with console, but am not able to find anything using "Safari" as a filter. The actual dialog warning reads like the following; Unable to load plug-in The page “Apple - Seminars Online - Capture, Create and Share Digital Media with QuickTime 7 Pro” attempted to load an Internet plug-in named “QuickTime Plug-In 7.2”, but the plug-in failed to load successfully.

(In reply to comment #2) > I am not familiar with > console, but am not able to find anything using "Safari" as a filter. Does anything get printed out to the Console application (in /Applications/Utilities) when you try to load a web page containing QuickTime content? Is the QuickTime plug-in listed when you go to the "Help" menu in Safari, then select "Installed Plug-ins"? You might try re-installing QuickTime 7.2. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/

Does anything get printed out to the Console application (in /Applications/Utilities) when you try to load a web page containing QuickTime content? No. I attempted to reload the Web page several times getting the same dialog, but I see nothing added to console when this occurs. Is the QuickTime plug-in listed when you go to the "Help" menu in Safari, then select "Installed Plug-ins"? Yes, it is. You might try re-installing QuickTime 7.2. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ Okay, I went to the Apple Web site to download Quick Time. When the page loaded I got the following message; The page “Apple - QuickTime” attempted to load an Internet plug-in named “QuickTime Plug-In 7.2”, but the plug-in failed to load successfully. However, I did download another copy of the Quick Time app. Rebooted, and all was working just fine. I ran "Night Shift" to insure that the latest nightly build was installed and all is still working properly. It looks as if reinstalling Quick Time has solved the problem.
