Created attachment 241030 [details] Screenshot The underline on the hovered nytimes.com headline "A New Day, and More G.O.P. Victories" looks offset to the right; it doesn't fully go under the A and sticks out to the right. Style is: font-family: nyt-cheltenham, georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 56px; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold; height: auto; letter-spacing: 0.5600000023841858px; line-height: 64px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; width: auto; word-spacing: -5.599999904632568px;

When calculating underline skipping locations, we don't take synthetic italics into account

But this isn't about skipping, it's about the ends of the underline.
