The ability to see how the page is made up in terms of render layers; grouping paint records by layer would be a useful insight

More context: At present we don't expose the specific render layers to developers, which means that they are using -webkit-transforms to implicitly create new render layers without understanding the ramifications. Ideally speaking we would be able to color each layer distinctly, or have a new panel in DevTools where a developer can toggle the individual renderlayers on or off. Additionally a grouping of paint records by render layer would allow a developer to quickly see which layers are needing to be repainted regularly.

Chromium and V8 have left the building. Won't fix.
