Created attachment 469929 [details] Screenshot Mongolian ipados Confirmed in IpadOS 16.7.5. I’m also a reader of CJK who *needs* vertical-rl and vertical-lr for combined Phags-Pa. Phags-Pa and Mongolian and Manchu… all perpetually broken in WebKit. Im *begging* you all to fix this layout stuff for vertical text!

Can you try with Safari Technology Preview 188 - if you have macOS because it has following fix: >> Fixed incorrectly oriented Traditional Mongolian script characters. (272454@main) (93426525) It fixes both Mongolia and Phags-Pa. Blog - https://webkit.org/blog/15026/release-notes-for-safari-technology-preview-188/

Additionally, it seems that the fix is also in Safari 17.4 beta as well so hopefully if you update to iOS 17.4 or iPad 17.4 in future, it will be fixed: > https://developer.apple.com/documentation/safari-release-notes/safari-17_4-release-notes#Rendering >> Fixed incorrectly oriented Traditional Mongolian script characters.
