google.com navigation bar lays out differently on uncached page load See the attached screenshots. Note that the +You is indented much further in the first (cold load) image, but then hitting reload, the +You will move further to the left. This likely only happens when not logged in. I used an incognito window to achieve such.
Created attachment 177681 [details] cold load (note +You is indented rather far)
Created attachment 177682 [details] After reload (note +You is not indented) command-shift-reload does not seem to repro the bug, but closing the incognito window and opening a new one and loading google.com often does.
You should file an internal bug about this.
In Safari 6.0.2, it seems to be just random - I reload multiple times, and the navigation bar is laid out differently.
I can't reproduce this. Eric, what Chrome (version+OS) were you testing on?
I was on Mac. I'm also having trouble reproing it on my Z620 linux machine. It's possible it's just too fast. :p
I'm unable to repro on my Mac or Nexus 10 at work. It's possible that this race is more difficult/impossible to repro on the corp network. (My Nexus 10 is not on Corp, but I suspect Google Wifi also has a particularly excellent connection to google.com) :)
Is this still active? Seems like it can be closed.
Google has updated layout a lot and this bug does not have any reduction test case and WebKit has also evolved a lot. Marking this as “RESOLVED WONTFIX”. Please reopen if it is something reproducible or someone have old testcase.
