The text-overflow property of CSS doesn't work for the Button tag. I tried it with div and span it is working but with button tag, it doesn't work. The property works fine in Mozilla and IE but not in Chrome and Safari.

Could you please explain why this is desirable? An important use case would help prioritize fixing this bug. Personally, I want all buttons I see on screen to display complete text, so I'm not sure how a web designer would use this.
