With the latest nightly (5.0.1 (6533.17.8, r64727)), clicking on gmail messages does not open them. Further, I cannot open them with keyboard shortcuts (using the 'o') key.
Safari 5.0.1 stable works correctly.

I also get this problem, and with different gmail accounts. I am using latest nightly Version 5.0 (6533.16, r64727), and I haven't upgraded to Safari 5.0.1 yet.
Using Safari Version 5.0 (6533.16), works as expected.
