In bug #223190 we removed the ability to save page titles into the back/forward list. This functionality is restored in bug #275280 and bug #275298, and apparently that works on macOS. It doesn't work on Linux, because page titles are never saved into the back/forward list in the first place.
I debugged this as far as HistoryController::initializeItem, where the title gets set to a null string because DocumentLoader::setTitle has not yet been called. The title gets set in the document loader a bit later, too late to go into the back/forward list. Perhaps the title gets set sooner on macOS?
