no crash report, but closing does not work so one has to force close.

#mark, this bug has been around for quite a while.

initially thought it was svg related

have had to stop using safari nightly, because it hangs so readily.

tried the leak report, but need further instructions,

Set the MallocStackLogging environment variable to YES (in bash, export MallocStackLogging=YES, in tcsh, setenv MallocStackLogging YES).
Run Safari using run-safari.
Browse around a little.
From the command line, run leaks Safari.

Perhaps you would attach the entire hang report to the bug.  The header alone isn't useful either.

afaict the header was all that was displayed in the force quit dialogue.

Simple alternative if you can't find it: Run Activity Monitor.  When the process starts to hang, select it in the process list, click Sample Process on the toolbar.  Copy the results into a text file, save, and attach.

This sample does not appear to be taken when the browser is unresponsive.

iirc I took the sample after waiting for the fan to come on and having raised the hang dialogue using force quit.
I'll attach another asap

if this is still not as required I will need additional instructions on what to do...

Again, this shows the main thread as idle.  I don't even understand what you think the problem is here.  Since you're clearly the only one seeing it, I would suggest removing any input managers and Safari extensions.

wfm is a not for helpful solution, as I am stuck with broken application.

please could you give me additional instructions on for instance where the hang file might be?

as far as i know I am using neither input handlers not extensions.

is there a uri for instructions to clear the current safari-webkit and reinstalling clean?
