As per https://github.com/whatwg/fetch/pull/1166 what little support for FTP there was is being removed from standards.

When FTP support was removed, support for URI schemes to open an assigned application to handle the FTP functions, like Transmit and others. PLEASE add this back!! Chrome-based browsers retained this feature which is why we have stopped using and supporting Safari for what we do on desktop and mobile.
