Portrait images in Facebook with wrong color

In the “messages” section of Facebook (go to Facebook, click on the speech bubbles icon in the right part of the top bar, then “see all“ in the drop-down menu), the small profile images of friends on the left-hand side (from past conversations) sometimes appear with the wrong color. In the attached screenshot “Facebook”, you can see a portrait with a cyan tint, and right below the same portrait with the correct tint. On mousing over the image, the right color appears.

I have seen the (probably) same issue on ad images, for instance on this page:

http://www.avclub.com/article/one-well-trained-dog-all-dirt-cheap-benji-movies-h-223149

on the right-hand side there are a series of images with the heading “On the Web”, some having the wrong color, and changing to the right colors on mouseover. (See attachments “avclub“ and “avclub-after“)

Julien mentioned in the radar that he hasn't seen this in macOS El Capitan (10.11) or Sierra (10.12), so it seems like this was fixed by another change.
