I think this is a bug in AppleGothic font - it has a square as a glyph for UPWARDS DOUBLE ARROW and several other arrow-like characters. This is reproducible with other applications (I tested TextEdit and UnicodeChecker). Please file this bug via <
http://bugreport.apple.com
>.

Thanks, I have reported it as bug 4573436. By the way, I said that Firefox displays the arrow correctly but this is not true: it was Camino.

Marking as confirmed (although it should probably be resolved as INVALID, as the bug is outside WebKit).

While both bugs deal with Unicode arrow keys,
Bug 7053
is for serif fonts while this one is for sans-serif fonts. I'm not sure they're duplicates.

The bugs might have similar causes, but AppleGothic (or any other Apple font I checked) has no problem with the rightwards arrow. I'm reopening this bug, to wait for the Radar issue progress.
