* SUMMARY When viewing a message with attached images in the (old) Yahoo! Mail, some images fail to load. * STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Send an email to your Yahoo! Mail account with at least 3-4 messages attached. 2. Launch Safari/WebKit. 3. Switch to the (old) Yahoo! Mail web interface. 4. View the message. * RESULTS Some of the images will be drawn with missing image icons. * REGRESSION Unknown. I've noticed this issue for a while, but never filed a bug on it. (Sorry!) * NOTES Works fine with Firefox 2.0.0.14 and Opera 9.24.

Not a regression from Safari 2.0.4 on Mac OS X 10.4.11 as it has the same issue (perhaps even worse).

What happens is that the web server occasionally returns an error page that says it's forbidden to view the image. This happens frequently with Safari 2.0.x and 3.x, but never with Firefox 2.0.0.x. You may verify this by doing the following: 1. Launch Safari/WebKit. 2. Log into Yahoo! Mail Classic. 3. View a mail message with more than 1 attached image. 4. [OPTIONAL] Reload the page until some image thumbnails fail to appear. 5. Right-click on a missing thumbnail image (or loaded thumbnail image) of the message, then select the "View Image in New Window" option. (NOTE: This seems to reproduce better with the second thumbnail and beyond.) 6. Hit "Reload" (Cmd-R or Reload button) until a "Sorry, forbidden." HTML page appears instead of the image.

A wireshark (tcpdump) of the HTTP headers sent in the working and failing cases shows them to be identical.

I can't reproduce this anymore on Yahoo! Mail. Closing.
