Text on Go and Clear buttons too low

Summary
Text on Go and Clear buttons too low
Gavin Sherlock
Reported
2007-12-28 21:48:58 PST
Go to bug url - text on buttons is too low. Can't compare to Firefox, as its widgets have text always fixed in the center. Also not sure if some css rule has caused this, as I'm useless in interpreting css, but inspecting the button seemed to suggest all margins and padding was intended to be symmetric. Tested in
r28979
on 10.5.1. Not a regression from release Safari on Leopard, but unable to test Safari 2.0x on Leopard to see it that's different.

Looking at Safari 2.0.4 with original WebKit on Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S165), the button text looks a bit lower than normal, so I'm going to say this is not a regression.

Safari 15.6 matches with other browsers I am not able to reproduce this bug in Safari 15.6 on macOS 12.5 using attached test case and as can been seen from the screenshot, all browsers are rendering text low in the button based. Since it is same across all browsers (Chrome Canary 106 and Firefox Nightly 105), I think we can closed it as "RESOLVED WORKSFORME" or "RESOLVED CONFIGURATION CHANGED"? Thanks!

Hmm, I don't know if there is any spec or any other reason why a simple <button style="height: 1.2em;"> should look bad - even if it looks bad in all browsers today.
