Staring a message in GMail jumps to top of page

I'm not sure when this regressed. I've not checked TOT.

This is a regression per Comment #0.

I have also seen this behaviour when staring a message in my inbox in nightly: 30628 and Safari 3.0.4

Works fine in FF 2.

I am afraid I don't think this is technically a regression as if you click on 'Older Version' (top right) the issue doesn't occur. I think it started happening when Gmail introduced their newer version.

I think therefore it has to technically be a P2 if someone could change it and remove from keywords?

Also, the summery has a spelling mistake if of 'starting' instead of 'staring' as per comment 0. Please could that be changed?

I wonder if this is related to bug 15486.

I've corresponded with the GMail folks. They believe this is their bug. This bug can be closed. Internally this is tracked as google bug http://b/893842.
