Each time I click on the red close button Safari quits unexpectedly and I can't change to Rosetta mode because there is no Rosetta button.

Are you running Safari under Rosetta? If so, why are you doing that? Many (if not all) of the plug-ins have been recompiled for Intel long ago. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303120 Otherwise, what version of Mac OS X and Safari are you running? Are you on an Intel or PPC Mac?
