RESOLVED INVALID 15192
Safari/Webkit freezes when download folder is deleted
https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15192
Summary Safari/Webkit freezes when download folder is deleted
Daniel Ricklin
Reported 2007-09-12 12:23:56 PDT
I recently deleted the folder that I assigned for downloads in Safari. Since then, all my attempts to download a file resulted in a "freeze" of Safari/Webkit. When I checked at the preferences, "Desktop" was defined as the new location but there was a default file icon instead of the Desktop icon. Definition of a new folder solved the problem.

Can you please collect a "sample" of Safari while it has hung? You can do this by running Activity Monitor.app, selecting the Safari item from the process list, and clicking the "Sample Process" button on the toolbar. Save the output to a text file, and attach it to this bug. I strongly suspect the sample will reveal the problem is within Safari itself rather than WebKit, in which case this bug report will need to be moved to Radar.

Thanks Daniel. The information in the sample suggests that the problem is completely outside of WebKit, either inside Safari or one of the lower-level frameworks involved in a download. I'll migrate this bug over to Radar, Apple's internal bug tracking system, so that the relevant team can investigate it. I'll also close this bug report as INVALID to indicate that the problem was determined to be outside of WebKit.

Resolving as INVALID as the issue here is outside of WebKit.
