In the latest nightly build, and also in Safari 3, the font size displayed in message bodies at the Motley Fool site is too small. This is particularly noticeable if the option for "sans-serif" is selected. According to someone at the Motley Fool, they don't see this in Safari 2 or in any of the other browsers they test. The font is specified as Verdana 80%.
I don't see an appreciable difference between Firefox 2.0.0.5 and a local debug build of WebKit r24737 with Safari 3 Public Beta v. 3.0.2 (522.12) on Mac OS X 10.4.10 (8R218). In fact, the sans-serif font looks bigger in Safari than it does in Firefox for me in the given URL. David, could you post screenshots to this bug that show the issue? Thanks!
Created attachment 15727 [details] Message displayed in Safari 3 This is the primary display of a message on a Motley Fool board (http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=25734704)
Created attachment 15728 [details] Reply page display of the same message; larger font This shows the massage as it appears when composing a reply. The font size seen here is more normal (http://boards.fool.com/Post.aspx?mid=25734704&bid=100401&reply=true#reply)
Created attachment 15729 [details] Same message displayed by FireFox 2.0.0.4 Same primary message. Here the font size looks the same as on the reply page in Safari 3.
Thanks for posting screenshots, David! Could you try a WebKit nightly to see if the font size looks bigger? It uses the Safari 3 Public Beta with a newer version of the WebKit framework. http://nightly.webkit.org/ Also, have you changed the default font sizes in the Safari preferences? Mine are: Standard font: Times 16 Fixed-width font: Courier 13

It never occurred to me that the size of my default font would apply when the website specifies a different font. If that's by design, I guess there's no bug.
