The last two updates have been Intel only. I can understand if you're dropping universal builds in favor of Intel ones but I can't find any reference to the change anywhere on the blog or anywhere on the web site. Would be nice to have known.

This is entirely because I’ve switched to building the nightlies on a machine that uses Xcode 4 rather than Xcode 3. Xcode 4 doesn’t support building for PowerPC, and I don’t consider the nightlies supporting PowerPC to provide enough benefit to spend time inventing some way to build for PowerPC on that machine.

What about a weekly then? Is there any other periodic way to follow webkit on a PPC?

There’s nothing about the frequency that makes this difficult. If I could do it weekly then I could do it nightly. There’d be even less benefit to doing it only once a week, so there’s even less reason to do that.

Hi all!

Just posted duplicate Bug 63939 on the same matter.

I totally ditto AlanR's initial post.
I "get' the move from Xcode 3 to 4, sort of.
I "do not get" why there wasn't any notification beforehand about the drop of Universal Binary, to at least all PPC users/testers. Yes, it would be nice to have known.

Now, may I ask, which build is the latest and hopefully NOT the last, for PPC?

Waiting for Lion to come out with a new line of updated ICBMs...

Thanks!

Here's a possible method for continuing universal builds

Compiling a Universal Binary from Autogen sources

I'm not sure how much easier it would make the job but probably a lot of people would like to see the universal binaries back.

I filed bug 64510 on this same issue.

I was hoping this was just an oversight. This hint on Macworld tells how to retain the old build system from Xcode 3 into Xcode 4: <http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20110318050811544>
Please try it and see if the nightlies can resume as a Universal Binary!

I'm changing the status on this in the hope that the last solution proffered will be tried. It seems simple and solid enough.
