webkit-patch supports an easy-to-type -g option for specifying the git committish as well as as the longer --git-commit=. I think this should be extended to prepare-ChangeLog as well.

It seems the semantics of the prepare-ChangeLog option differ from those of the webkit-patch option, but I think that's a task for another bug.
