This bug only appears to exist when using WebKitGTK+. Safari 4.0.5, WebKit r60376, and Konqueror 4.3.2 (KHTML and WebKit) did not have this issue.

User Agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.2+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/531.2+ Debian/squeeze/sid () Epiphany/2.30.0

Using the following package from the WebKit Team PPA with Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic:
webkit  -  1.2.1-2~kkwkt1

There's a weird grey box on the left hand side that flashes when I go to www.avsforum.com.

This may be a duplicate of https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47742. Can you verify that this is still a problem with the latest from the repository?
